As a member of the state professional organization of mathematics teachers, you are both receiving benefits and supporting the broadening of opportunities for gaining knowledge for yourself and others. Without GCTM, many opportunities would not be provided specifically for mathematics education.

Your membership ensures there is an organization that focuses on high-quality mathematics education for all students in the state of Georgia. Your elected and appointed officers work year-round to encourage an active interest in mathematics and advocate for the improvement of mathematics. Various officers describe in Reflections issues what they do in the position they fill in the organization: planning and running the annual Georgia Mathematics Conference; providing the GCTM Summer Academies; advocating for special concerns related to mathematics education with state leaders; etc. The quality annual Georgia Mathematics Conference with national speakers and excellent state presenters would not be possible without the state professional organization whose members fill vital roles on the Conference Board and the Executive Committee.
