The Value of Membership

You are reading this because you are a member. Please pass along the value of being a member of GCTM to your colleagues. They may ask, “Why should I join GCTM?”

They may wonder about the benefits of joining a professional organization when there are many opportunities to engage in conversations via social media and participate in professional learning in-person or virtually without joining an organization. You might respond with the following benefits.


GCTM Membership Benefits
  • GCTM is the state professional organization for teachers of mathematics. As a member of
  • GCTM, you are a part of an organization whose objectives are to encourage an active interest in mathematics and to act as an advocate for the improvement of mathematics education at all levels. GCTM offers members a reduced rate to attend quality in-state professional learning at the annual conference or summer academy that offers attendees the opportunity to grow professionally and return to the classroom with strategies to advance student learning.
  • Sessions are routinely offered related to the state standards and initiatives.
  • You have access to Reflections, the online journal, that includes articles from state and national mathematics education leaders. You have an opportunity to submit an article for publication.
  • Your membership helps support state-wide mathematics competitions for students.
  • You can be the recipient of an award for the contributions you have to mathematics education and for the impact you have had on students and/or teachers.


Membership is only $30 annually or $50 for two years.

There are 130 pending memberships awaiting payment and others up for renewal.
