Georgia Mathematics Conference!


SAVE THE DATE!! The GMC fall conference is in-person from the evening of October 19 through the afternoon of October 21. The proposals submission document is open at https://forms.gle/ZkfFYVhwY8nw2g8F6 and proposals will be accepted through June 15, 2022. Place this conference on your administration’s radar to set aside funds in assisting you in attending. For those K-8 teachers that have conference week, consider requesting to have some of your conferences early or front-loading at the beginning of the week to free up time to attend the conference! Join GCTM today for a membership fee of $20.00. Membership results in a reduction of the conference fee. We have special GMC swag this year included in the registration!

The structure of the conference has been updated with keynote speakers presenting in the morning on Thursday and Friday! Be on the lookout for Thursday’s keynote Dr. Peter Liljedahl's, researcher and author of Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning will be occurring in the morning to kick off the sessions for the day. Joining us on Thursday will be featured speaker Sean Kavanaugh, founder of 360 Degree Mathematics who will be highlighting one of Dr. Liljedahl’s 14 teaching practices that can be used in your daily instructional routine of making student learning visible. Concurrent sessions with featured speakers will run during the day before the annual fun run and evening festivities by the lake! Friday’s keynote features Beatrice Moore Luchin, Mathematics Consultant and Author who will be joining us to kick off Friday’s sessions by sharing practical strategies to develop a student’s growth mindset in mathematics to increase student engagement, perseverance, and problem-solving success. Bea will hold a featured session after the keynote to extend upon these strategies. Concurrent sessions with featured speakers will run during the day until the close of the conference. Sponsors will be holding sessions during the conference day that will include some fantastic prizes for educators in attendance!
