Submission Guidelines
Manuscript Format
Manuscripts should be double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides, typed in 12-point font and follow the latest edition of the APA style guide. Manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word. Please embed any images or photos within your manuscript.
Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts should be submitted to Dr. Becky Gammill (gammillgctm@gmail.com). Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged. Manuscripts are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they have not been published previously and are not being considered simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Along with your submission, you must also include an author bio and photograph that will accompany your piece within Reflections.
Manuscript Publication
When a manuscript is accepted for publication, the editor/journal reviewers may make suggestions or revisions in consultation with the principal author. However, because of publication deadlines, the editor reserves the right to make minor revisions without seeking prior approval from the author. Release statements for all copyrighted materials must be received prior to publication. If student work or images are used within your submission, make sure to include the proper release forms from your school district so that those materials may be included with your work.
Length of Submissions
We accept submissions of various types and lengths. Please look at previous issues of Reflections to get an idea of how long or short a piece should be. The following lengths are flexible, but recommended.
- Teacher Reflections: 1.5 – 3 pages.
- Lesson: 4 – 6 pages (including references, resources, and teacher keys.)
- Research: 6 – 12 pages. Longer studies may shorted or broken up into smaller pieces for sequential publication releases.
- Snippets (Book reviews, student artwork, sharing a short teaching or mathematics tip): 1 – 2 pages.
