HIGH SCHOOL SUMMIT CANCELLED

Due to the current situation and the announcement that schools will not re-open for the remainder of the school year, the GCTM Summer Academies and High School Summits have been cancelled for 2020. We regret that decision had to be made, but we believe it is the responsible thing to do. Registration refunds will be processed for those that have already registered.

GCTM High School Summit sessions are based on the latest research-based strategies. Metacognitive strategies, collaborative learning, differentiation, and other evidence-based strategies are modeled and addressed. GCTM offers teachers the opportunity to continue exploring the strategies learned from national presenters and Georgia educators at the Georgia Math Conference.

The two-day workshops offer teachers face-to-face professional development focused on topics identified by high school teachers as a need. Teachers will choose the sessions that are most meaningful to them and will move between sessions for each of the two days.

Some topics offered will include:

Algebra 1 and Algebra 2

  • Linear Functions, Graphs, Sequences and Models
  • Exponents and Logs as Inverses
  • Inverse Relations and Rational Functions

Geometry and Pre-Calculus

  • Transformation Connections
  • Trigonometric Connections
  • Circles and Other Conics

  • Productive Struggle in Action
  • Building Number Sense in High School
  • Teaching Practices in Problem Solving

And more!
